To support the safety of its residents when they must leave their homes, the Masks For Vashon community is producing and distributing well made reusable masks to its residents, essential needs workforce, health care workers and nonprofits.
Since April 2020, Masks for Vashon has made and delivered more than 11,000 masks to residents and businesses.
In Vashon, WA, 47% of residents are over the age of 45, 13.1% are over the age of 65, and there is an additional percentage who are at high-risk. This fosters Vashon residents to come together and protect its community even more.
There is no hospital or emergency department on Vashon to support residents. Residents must travel via ferry or helicopter to Metro-Seattle or Metro-Tacoma to seek emergency or intensive care medical treatment.
Encouraging the community to wear masks in public spaces will help deter the spread of Covid-19 and help keep its residents healthy and safe.
